This flask shaped handblown glass vase is layered — a deep black background with silver veil overlay using two different silver glasses with different viscosities. The piece is then cased in several layers of clear, leaving the design floating within the glass.
When the piece is almost complete, I shape the lip into the two points. To me this suggests a pitcher – a form that implies something being given or poured out. The vase is not functional in that way, but it is the feeling of generosity I am evoking when I make these vases.
